About Me
Eight years ago my partner and I moved to Marmora from the Niagara Region. We chose Marmora to be our home even though, at the time, we had no connections to this community. But we were attracted to its physical beauty, rich history and small town friendliness.
We love living in Marmora, have made many friends and are very active in volunteer roles in the Municipality and throughout the wider region.
Prior to taking early retirement, my professional career involved roles as a municipal advisor, community planner and university lecturer - but my main gig was running a successful business for nearly 30 years.
I would be honoured to serve the people of our Municipality and to play a small part in charting the future course of this promising community.
My qualifications
Leadership at the Municipal level has many components and I am confident I can deliver on several:
RESPECT is one of my core values - I will respect all views and will be available to listen to all concerns.
I am a clear COMMUNICATOR, and will be approachable and accessible to all members of the community.
A Municipal Council works well only if it works as a TEAM. I am a team player and believe in building strong relationships with fellow Councillors, Municipal staff, partner organizations and individuals in the community.
I will always come to my work as a Councillor PREPARED. Municipal government is complex and requires focus, diligence and effort.
As a planner, I appreciate the value of LONG-TERM THINKING. Council must be mindful that today's decisions have consequences for tomorrow, not all of which can be perfectly anticipated.
I am a trained and skilled FACILITATOR, MEDIATOR and ARBITRATOR.
Lastly, I am an ENTREPRENEUR which means I understand finances, managing through uncertainty, and hard work.
